Ruth asks…
Team building activities?
Hi everyone,
i’m about to become a summer camp counselor, and we have been instructed to prepare 2 nightly devotions and 1 team building activities for the kids in the cabins we will be acting as counselor for and for us counselors as a group, any suggestions/fun ideas?
Thanks!

A good team building activity would be anything where the kids have to work together towards a common goal. For example if there is a soccer field at the camp, but it is covered in goose feces, no one will want to play. However, there is a strong chance everyone will want to play so if you get everyone to work together to clean up the mess, that can build team spirit. However playing soccer with 2 separate teams can counter that effect.
Any new, creative games will definitely make people want to play. One of my favorites is called zip, snort.
There are only 6 rules
1. You can’t show your teeth at all during the game
2. You zip to your left
3. You snort to your right
4. If you show your teeth, you are sent to the mush pot
5. If you zip or snort to the wrong side, you are sent to the mush pot
6. If you mistakenly think you were zipped or snorted at, and zip or snort to someone else, you are sent to the mush pot
what happens is everyone sits in a circle. One person begins by zipping or snorting to one of their neighbors, then that neighbor can pass it back, or pass it on. It doesn’t matter if 2 people are locked in a back/forth zip/snort as long as no one exposes teeth or breaks any other rules.
This is just something i enjoy. I hope you do too.
