Your Questions About Stay At Home Mom

William asks…
What jobs can I do as a stay at home mom?
Hi! I am going to be a first time mom. I am planning on staying home for awhile. Does anyone have an idea what I can do at home to earn money?

The biggest problem with a home based job is exactly what it says it is a job, but is more likely to be low paid and with no certainty of continuous employment, with those uncertainties and the tax disadvantages I could never recommend a home based job.
If however you wish to create an income from home, then a home based business is ideal. The biggest advantages are working hours that you can set to suit yourself, the opportunity to leverage time through the efforts of others, and significant tax advantages.
There are hundreds of possible businesses, but a business requires some capital to start up so I would recommend looking for one that requires less than $500 to start, but remember it is your business and it will only be successful if you are prepared to put some amount of continuous effort into it. It will take some time to build and get an income flowing, so I would study all opportunities very closely and see if your choice has any bonus schemes which can act as cash flow as the main income stream grows.
With most businesses it will take 2-4 weeks before the first income may be received, but that is normal, in fact most home based jobs will only pay monthly. But with a business the income should increase quickly as the weeks progress, in fact it is possible to be earning a significant extra income within 6 months and be financially free in 2-4 years.
Some 9 years ago I got involved with a company in the second largest industry in the world – Telecommunications. What impressed me with this company was the attitude of the owners, they were already in a position where they could have retired, but they decided that they had a company that could grow and help very many people throughout the world to realise their financial dreams.
This company now operates in 19 countries on 3 continents and expects to be opening up another 50 countries over the next few years. They have been featured in many publications like USA Today, Success from Home Magazine (twice), Fortune, and Inc 500 rated then the 22nd fastest growing company in the USA after their first 5 years, not only that but the 2nd most profitable.
Recently the multi-billionaire Donald Trump endorsed the opportunity, calling it probably the best available in the world today.
The services the company offers are local and long distance calling, subscription/line rental, Internet, Digital, Voip with video phones, Satellite TV and cell phone services with all the major cell phone providers. Now everybody knows plenty of other people who use these services in their homes every day, and this opportunity allows you to save people money on these services, but at the same time it allows you to earn a percentage of the monthly billing of all the people who are saving money on the services you recommended, you have created a residual based income, you get paid every month for as long as the customer continues to use the service. This can be a very profitable business as the industry turns over approximately one Trillion dollars annually.

If you were a stay at home mom (mostly) would you join a play date group?
I’m at home all day with my babies, and work a few week nights and weekends. I created an online group for stay @ home moms to meet up in public places for play dates, and to meet other women to hang out with during the day. I did this because, I moved here with my husband, and have no friends to hang out with. I’ve got a few members, but would like some oppinions on weither or not people think this is a good idea, or will out to be a flop??
*or it will turn out to be a flop

Oh it sounds like so much fun but a lot of work to do online! Just post flyers or something in local places that you know would catch mom’s attention like the park or babies r us etc don’t worry it would be a hit! Enjoy your play dates:) the best thing is that your babies will learn to interact with strangers and other babies and learn to socialize and you’ll get a friend with whom you’ll have lots of common things with (atleast the kids) to talk about etc….

My friend thinks that having her son in full-time daycare is better for him then being a stay at home mom?
My friend and I kind of got into a debate the other night. She was talking about how she thinks having her 2 year old in daycare Monday through Friday from 8-5 is better then being a stay-at-home Mom with him because she feels like he gets more socialization. I think that if a mother has a choice that being a stay at home mom is beneficial to a child’s well-being and socializing them a couple days a week in addition to that is healthy.
What do you honestly think? Working moms… if you had a CHOICE would you honestly still put your kids in daycare Monday through Friday… or would you stay home with them more?
Just curious.

Yigly Admin answers:
I think there are pros and cons either way. You don’t need daycare to socialize your child though. If you get involved in things like library story times, playgroups, Sunday School/church activities, then you can have a well-socialized child. I stay home with my sons and work part-time (nights, from home). They are not lacking for socialization. Honestly I did not want to leave my son to be cared for by others, although it is a reputable daycare in our town.
I think you make the best choice for your family, be it day care or staying at home. I don’t really think there’s a “wrong” choice as long as you feel you’re making the best choice for your family.

Stay at home mom’s – any ideas on how to make extra cash?
I’m pregnant for my second child and plan on leaving the work force to stay home with both my children. At the same time, my husband and I would need alittle extra cash, probably about $200 a month. Any stay at home mom‘s make extra cash staying home? I don’t want to sign up on one of those internet scams, I am looking for something that is legitimate, but at the same time don’t need to make that much money. Or if anyone has ideas on part time jobs that I wont have to spend too many hours away from home, but make that extra $200 a month.

Yigly Admin answers:
I still havent found anything to make extra money–but i found ways to cut back..I take my sons clothes and put them in consignment, and get the next size up for him–so it is kinda like swapping clothes..I used coupons, comp sales adds, and we cut back on the things that we didnt actually need.
I have a 20 month old toddler and expecting baby #2 in about 6 weeks.
I did find a site online that i have made about $100 on in the last year– i know that is not much, but the money seemed to come in when we needed it..and i got free products in the mail–like wipes and such that helped us out..all you do is fill out product surveys that are emailed to you.

Betty asks…
How many stay at home mom’s keeping infants and toddlers at home more because of swine flu?
Are you moms and dads staying home with the very little ones to avoid infection? I have been home more a lot more because of fears that I just can’t help. Also what kinds of things are you doing to keep them entertained and stimulated at home?

Yigly Admin answers:
Swine flu is just another strain of the flu. Many people over 40 are resistant to it, since it was around in the 70′s. So it looks like it “goes after children” but the truth is it just doesn’t affect adults as much.
The flu is dangerous! Any strain of flu can kill. That is why you should get yourself and your children vaccinated for the seasonal flu and the swine flu. This year there are 2 strains of flu out. Get vaccinated against both.
It is always a good idea to try not to let your children catch the flu or colds however. Since it is mostly spread by direct contact, large open places are better than tight enclosed ones.
