Your Questions About Stay At Home Mom Blog

Mandy asks…

What’s the best way to build my newsletter list at http://www.wahpm.com for work/stay at home moms?

I have a website for work at home and stay at home moms. It’s a support group, advice, etc. I have written a book (currently being published), and also host a weekly radio show at blog talk radio (www.blogtalkradio.com/wahpm) and send a bi-monthly newsletter. I’m looking for ways to build my newsletter list without spending too much money. The whole site at the moment is non-profit, the only income will come from the book, i’m not selling adspace etc. Does anyone have any ideas how to build my list?

Yigly Admin answers:

Find forums of the niche your aiming at. Sory your signature with a link to your site and then give value.

See people in forum need advice, questions, share your knowledge. They will see your value and click on your link and go to your website. If they see value in your work, then they will syndicate your work.

If they go to a website, and they logo name, see no photo of you, that the site has a company name and not your name, it’s over. But you got photo so hurray! You done great!

People don’t buy into companies, they buy into you. So you figured it out great!

There is also craiglist but even then, there is a tight thing with them and they are changing.

So use a powerful tool, like uploading to ezine articles. Jus google “ezine articles” and this is one of the popular sites. It lets you share valuable content, and no sales pitch but they give you room to leave your signature link, website domain name.

Has helped me a lot to move lots of traffic and it’s free.

Submit your articles to free search engine directors.

There’s also designing capture pages, which you can direct traffic to from uploading articles else where, or from free ads, or business card with the link to capture page.

That way you are working to TARGET your audience and when they go to a capture page, they see headline, they know they need to be of that niche to be interested.

I left a link so you see example of a capture of a friend of mine who has helped me greatley. Couldn’t have moved so much traffic with this guy help. He knows how to attract traffic for free.

Finally, your website..
Maybe also change the headline with the question not logo etc.

“Who Else Is A Mum At Home, Runs A Business And Needs To Learn How To…etc etc.”

When they come to your website, the headline hooks them in, and see the emotion questions they are going through but also solution. They know they are in right place.

Then put..”The Place For Work At Home Professionals” as your tagline under the headline.

Just suggestions.

You can do it! Go for it and good luck to your amazing journey and all people you will inspire and help.

Mary asks…

Please take a look at my blog & give me honest feedback ***EASY 10PTS?

I just recently started a blog about parenting and being a stay at home mom, about some of the days that make me feel like I’m going to go insane. I am trying to bring some humor to it and so far all of the people that have read it (people that know me) have loved it, but I’m not sure if it is just because they know my family and I.
Basically I just want people that don’t know my family to read it and see if they like it, I appreciate any feedback and just ask that any negative feedback also comes with a reason why you didn’t like it.
Thanks in advance!

LMAO I enjoyed reading it… Its very funny!

Joseph asks…

I need help coming up with a blog title?

I am a stay at home mom with two girls (ages 16 and 8) and I have two dogs. My blog is about my daily interaction with things that happen daily. Whether funny, sad, serious, interesting, etc. I cannot for the life of my figure out a good title and sub title for my blog. Any ideas would be great no matter what they are, I want to hear them! Thanks everyone!

Yigly Admin answers:

Hi Nicole.

What are you looking to do with your blog? Make money? In that case it’s best to learn about Keywords and SEO otherwise no one will ever read a post you make.

For friends and family? Pick something that is a private joke yet still vaguely funny or a nickname reference or something with some meaning to you.

Your Questions About Team Building Activities For Adults

George asks…

What are some effective team-building activities that promote togetherness and respect?

I am a youth leader at my church and also a leader of the young adult/youth choir. Lately I’ve noticed a somber mood amongst the choir and there isn’t the camaraderie that was there a few months ago. Everyone is stressed and no one is enjoying singing on the choir anymore. There’s an explosion of attitudes during rehearsals and so much negativity.

The church members don’t support us when we sing. They just sit there and stare at us. That could be part of the reason for the decline in morale. Plus, there are individuals who are 20,22, 24, 25, and 31 and they receive no respect from the younger members of the choir.

With all that being said, what are some great activities that can be used to promote togetherness and change the attitude and overall dynamic of the choir? Our choir anniversary is Sunday, September 19 and we need something quick and effective.

Thanks!

Yigly Admin answers:

Get everyone sitting in a circle playing circle games. Mix people up so they’re sitting near people they don’t know so well, so split older members among younger ones. One good activity to promote positivity might be where everyone has to say something positive about the person to their left. Play Chinese whispers, maybe get everyone involved in a discussion about songs you could sing.
Hope it helps :)

Your Questions About Make Money From Home Legit

Joseph asks…

Does anyone know of any legit ways to make money from home?

I would like to quit my job and stay home with my kids, but maybe make some money too- anybody have any tips about starting my own business?

Yigly Admin answers:

You can try ptc (paid to click) sites where earning money is easy but try to be careful not to deal with scam ones. For more information http://notaiizimoney.blogspot.com

Robert asks…

I am single mother trying to work from home…anyone know of a legit way to make money from home?

I have looked into many home based business’ but they all want me to invest a ton of money which I do not have.. Please anyone that can help it would be of great appreciation.

Yigly Admin answers:

Hi T,

I’ve had a lot of experience over the past 3 years with this subject. I went through litereally 50+ different companies on the interent trying to make money while I was in college. There’s sooo much crap out there and companies that promise you the world but deliver nothing but hype, it takes a while to seperate the crap from the genuine money making opportunities.

Now after sooo many disapointments I’m using a crowd called Data Entry Pro and it’s now making me money (finally!) online.

Anyway, basically you sign up with them and then once your logged in you just fill in as many forms as you like in their members section and you get paid for each one. I get checks from them every 2 weeks each averaging around $250-$350. You could make more but I just use the site as an extra income stream aswell as my full time job so I only work on it for around an hour each night.

You do have to be prepared to spend a little money though if you want to do anything online like this but it´s already been worth it for me.

Here`s the link you can get them at anyway -> www.datatry.com

Hope this helps!
Goodluck,
William

Ps: I forgot to tell you that they now have a 60 day money back guarantee or something like that (they didn’t have one of these when I joined) so if you don’t like it you can get a full refund… I know you won’t look back though! :)

Lisa asks…

I am looking for legit ways to make extra money from home. Do you know any?

My son is four months old and I would love to be able to spend more time at home with him but I need some kind of income. So I am looking for programs that would allow me to make money from home… Mailing stuff, secret shopping, sampleing or selling… I don’t care I just want some options…

Yigly Admin answers:

I swear that this works! I looked and looked for the same thing! I tried dozens of sites and this is the best one I found. I spend about 2-3 hours on it every night after the kids go to bed, and I’ve made enough money to pay some bills every month. You just have to sign up for free stuff and they pay you. The amounts seem small, but they add up quick. It costs nothing to join and it is so easy! You even earn gold coins that you can use to get free stuff! Give it a try! Mark asks…

Nancy asks…

What are some ways to make money from home? Are there legit ways?

Im not looking to make a lot. Just bring in a little bit of extra cash. Please non of those scams. Any advice will be great. Thanks

Yigly Admin answers:

I sell stuff on ebay. Every week I try to find 5 things that we don’t use or wear (usually its clothing) to sell on ebay. I usually make about $50 a week. Its not much but if you save it in your paypal account and then dump it in your bank account at the end of the month it does make for a nice cushion (especially when you do it around the time your mortgage is due).

Ruth asks…

I was wondering if anyone knew a legit. way to make money from home.?

I am a stay at home mom and we can’t afford day care even if I got a full time job. It is just way too expensive. I’ve tried all kinds of things, but everything seems like a scam. I don’t want in on anything like a pyramid scheme or anything like that. I want some real work from home. If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Yigly Admin answers:

I believe the most profitable legitimate way to make money on the internet is paid posts on blogs. There are a number of other methods that you can also use to boost your earnings.
There is an article here that explains a lot of ways to make money online:

http://www.livewyre.net/online.php

This article was written by a Mom who works from home just like you.
There is a specific link on that page that takes you to a section about making money with paid posts on a blog. The author of this piece makes about $300-$400 a month.
The information on this site is concerned ONLY with legitimate schemes that have been tried and tested. You will have to put some work in to make the money, but the money is there for those that pursue it.
You can get a blog for free from ‘blogger’ (google) or ‘wordpress’.
Hope this helps

William asks…

How can I make money from home? Does anyone know any legit LEGAL websites?

At the moment I’m at home a lot of the time. I’m doing a home study course which I’m really enjoying, and I have a part time job. I really would like something else to do where I can earn money fitting round my odd working hours (which is why it’s hard for me to find another job)

Does anyone know of ANY legal, legitimate ways I can make money from home?

Thanks

Yigly Admin answers:

Hi! I’m willing to help but of course it’s up to you.

I am a stay home mom and having a business at home. I’ve been in so many scams like partner with Paul just to earn extra income, and many more I don’t want to remember.

I finally found one that I actually enjoy working at home with my kids on my sight. If you are looking for a long term income this is for you.

I’ve been an Associate for only 1 month now. I am earning $138.27 per $35.95 plan I am selling. You can earn up to $215.35 in a $35.95 plan. You can work part time or full time and work from home.

How can you find your own business in such a little investment? This is like buying a franchise store.

I am at Prepaid Legal Services, Inc and we are marketing Legal Plans… Pre-paid legal is in the market for 37 years, and we are listed at PPD NYSE (New York Stock Exchange). We have very good commission and this is a business u can rely on in the future even you are not working.

There are 3 ways to have income.
1. Your own sale commission.
2. Your override commission from your associates.
3. Once your clients renew his membership u will also get commission. This is your business but we are here to help u.

Right now we also have Blastoff site where we could have 1-10% income of your client’s purchases. Your client will also have 1-10% cash back on his purchases. It’s free and anybody can join. It is now open to everyone.

Mandy asks…

Are there any legit ways to make money from home without selling anything?

It seems like there is too many scams out there. I was just wondering if anybody has tried anything and if it worked.

Yigly Admin answers:

Hi
Here is a quick formula for making money without spending any, and without falling for scams. Notice, there is nothing to buy.
This will not involve anyone but you. No meetings, no parties, and no special favours required either.  Ready?
1. Go to clickbank and register as an affiliate.
2. Find at least 1 product you would like to sell and create a link for that product.  You’ll be paid up to 75% commission on every sale. Creating a hop link is easy. Just follow their instructions
3.  write 4 original 300-word articles about that product based on 5 – 10 keywords that relate to the product. Look for the google adwords keyword tool at google.com and use it to find the keywords you need.
4.  Go to squidoo.com  and create a lens, using  at least  2 of your articles. Make sure the links point to the clickbank product. (check their terms of use first)
5. Go to hubpages and do the same thing as you did at squidoo.com using the other two articles you wrote.
6 Write at least one article a day for the next 20 days and submit them to ezinearticles, articlealley, idea marketers, and buzzle.
By the end of the twentieth day, you should start to see sales coming into your clickbank account. If you don’t continue writing articles on more related keywords until you do.
You can check my resources links for more help.

All the best to you,
Anthony
PS: This has worked for me. It’s not a bunch of theories.

Your Questions About Work From Home Careers

Helen asks…

Can anyone one tell me of a legitimate work from home career?

I would like to eventually work from home while taking care of children.

Yigly Admin answers:

I have tried many work-from-home jobs and found writing to be the best. There are many sites willing to pay you to write articles for them, in order to get more traffic.

However if you meant that you want to work while watching other people’s children in your home (home daycare), you may find your hands too full to spend much time doing anything else.

Jenny asks…

Any advise for real work at work at home careers??

Hi,
I am a single mom on a low income budget. I need to work less hours so that l can be home with my kids after school.
To do that l need to find work from home to supplement my income. Any ideas on REAL careers from home???

Yigly Admin answers:

I heard something the other day that made me feel better about the fact that I had not yet discovered financial freedom through a Home-Based Business. I’ve really tried but I just haven’t been able to do it.

Do you know that 97% of the people who try a home-based Business Opportunity fail to create the financial freedom they dream of? Well, it’s true. I personally was relieved! Then I found out about MY POWER MALL.

Whether you’re part of the 97% or the 3% you’ll want to find out what MY POWER MALL has to offer. It’s not MLM. It’s not an Affiliate Program. It’s something totally new that has been 5 years and $500,000 in the making.

I’m not going to take time to explain it because MY POWER MALL has created some powerful movies and a great website that will do just that. I will tell you it is totally new, totally FREE, very simple, and can be done in conjunction with anything else you are doing to generate financial freedom. You could easily be making $4 – 6000 a month, but your income potential is unlimited. Interested? Click the button below! It will only take a few minutes to determine if our FREE program is what you have been looking for. I believe it is!

Charles asks…

What are some careers that someone can work from home?

I am finishing up my college career soon with two bachelors degrees in history and psychology. I’ve always worked retail because of the decent pay offered and the flexibility of scheduling. I’ve recently left my job. I’m ok financially for now but I want something to make money, but i’m interested in stuff outside of retail, preferably something i can do on my own scheduling. I have decent technology skills, does anyone know of any major companies that allow individiuals to work from their home? I can’t find anything local.

Yigly Admin answers:

I did the retail thing just as you did and I will tell you once you have a work history of doing mostly retail it is hard to get out of it. It can be done though. What is something that you really like to do? You want to find something you have a passion for. If you find it easy to talk to people which if you been in retail for a long time you probably do. If you would like to stick to sales and want to be out in the world rather than behind a desk look at www.mymangosteen.com/esowell. I have been doing this for sometime now and it give me the freedom to do what I want to do.

Donald asks…

Is medical coding/billing a viable work from home career?

I am a stay at home mom with over 5 years of Human Resource experience under my belt, however I would like to be able to continue to stay at home with my special needs son in addition to earning an income. I have seen commercials for schools that offer medical billing/coding training and the fact that you can work from home. Does anyone have any experience and/or advice with this? I am thinking of going back to school, but if it’s going to be hard to find a good job that will allow me to work from home, I don’t want to invest time or resources in it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yigly Admin answers:

Yes, it can be done, but their are a lot of scams out their. 99% of doctors and hospitals are verry particular, due to HIPPA requirments.

Here is a link to bbc website for tips on what to watch out for

Donna asks…

are there any legit work from home jobs that dont require a start up fee?

looking to have a work from home career but there are alot of fraud sites out there can anyone help me find one that i can relly make money to take care of my family

Yigly Admin answers:

“If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate.”

There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as ‘Best’.

Sandra asks…

Im looking for a great work from home career. NOT a job. ?

Any information of an online career from home. Not a 9-5, or money to barely get by, or extra cash.

I have money to invest to start a home based business.

Thanks.

Yigly Admin answers:

I could help you out with that. I have set up many people to own their own home base business, to work anywhere in the world and make your own hours. Its not a get rich quick either. Send me an email and I will respond with all the information of the organization. No spam, please…

Manthony95@ymail.com

Chris asks…

Anyone had success with Internet work-from-home careers? No surveys….already tried that.?

Yigly Admin answers:

Only on ebay. But you have to have something to sell. I sold all my old junk text books kitchen stuff old video games I even sold an empty game box one time for $5. I have two kids I sell thier old cloths on ebay. But when you run out of stuff to sell its hard for the average person. I still find good deals on stuff at thrift shops and flea markets that get good resale but not on a large scale.

Anything you want to do is going to require an investment. But you should never feel like a job is trying to sell you something you want to make money not spend it. If you are going to invest find a manufacture you trust and a product you know like calvin cline jean company or something. Buy a small lot of clothes or video games or whatever directly from the manufacture and sale it on line. On ebay is a good start and if it goes well get your own web page and keep all the money.

Dont go through a site that claims they can hook you up with the right people. Start your own buisness and run it your own way. Start small and build on it. Good luck with that

Your Questions About Network Marketing Scams

Susan asks…

network marketing scam?

Has anuone heard of this company…”The USA Cash List Program.”..and is it legit and honest Thanks

Yigly Admin answers:

You can check the better business bureau. I have never heard of it. I have been involved with several network marketing companies though…I can only advise “be careful” if they promise to make you money then it’s a scam. The good ones will tell you that it costs money to make money and that you will get less out of it than you put in until you have people signed up under you. USA Cash List sounds like some scam using lists of people who are supposedly owed money, you find em and you get a cut? Not happening. Just be careful. There are so many people scamming, and then the people who are innocent and signed up who are trying to make a buck and haven’t realized yet that it’s a pyramid or a scam. Good luck…

Lizzie asks…

Is cognigen a network Marketing company a legit company?

And are they reputable as far as network marketing goes? To many scams…let me know your take on cognigen

Your Questions About Best Business Schools 2011

Betty asks…

Which culinary school is best for my situation?

Good evening, I will be separating from the Marine Corps in Aug 2011 and I am looking at going to culinary school. I am very passionate about creating and discovering great tasting food but the extent of my experience has only been in the home kitchen. I am very familiar with hard work and dedication and I have plenty of leadership experience. I am married (no kids, very supportive wife) and I am ready to commit to a career I believe I can excel at. I would like to pursue a bachelor of science in culinary management and am looking for a well rounded business and management education in the field. Schooling will be completely covered through my chapter 33 (GI Bill) benefits and so far C.I.A, LeCordon Bleu, and Art Institutes seem like good choices. Thank you for your response.

Yigly Admin answers:

Well, let me first give you a Salute for serving in the military! Regarding culinary school, please forgo those private overpriced For-profit tech schools such as ‘le cordon bleu’, ‘art institute’, ‘culinary institute’ and others as they are merely out to ‘make a profit’ (** and course credits may NOT transfer to other schools **). Please instead consider the more affordable County Vo-Tech school (though course credits will NOT usually transfer even with the county vocational school) or Community College (and/or state university) as long as the program is accredited within the industry.

These consumer sites have negative posts by former students about those private $$ for-profit tech schools, and please heed the students’ warnings:

- http://www.complaintsboard.com and can type into search.

For U.S. Colleges (including community colleges): http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ

This site is supposed to have accredited programs in culinary arts: http://www.acfchefs.org and can look under “schools” or such.

For general career information: http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos330.htm#training

Mandy asks…

Can I start an non-profit org under my for-prof business?

I own two music studios where we and teachers we’ve hired teach private lessons mostly to rich kids and adults, because private instruction is quite expensive. I appreciate the income but before I went into this business I was teaching music in urban schools, because before music my real dream was always to help disadvantaged kids to grow and thrive in life in general through music with all its rewards. My career led me to where I am now but I don’t like excluding those who cannot afford it.

So I’m looking into grants and I’m finding several from the National Endowment For The Arts that seem just right but are only for non-profit organizations, and I’m wondering if we can somehow create one and then pay those who deserve to be paid but agree to use any money beyond that directly to the cause.

Can this work or will I always just be a for-profit business?

Thanks

If it interests any of you, the following is the grant I want, if not now, then in the future.

An organization may submit only one application through one of the following FY 2011 Grants for Arts Projects categories: Access to Artistic Excellence, Challenge America Fast-Track, Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth. The Arts Endowment’s support of a project may start on or after June 1, 2011. Introduction The National Endowment for the Arts is committed to providing leadership in arts education by inspiring all young Americans through rich arts experiences. A high quality education in the arts opens a critical gateway to a lifetime of appreciation and engagement. For two reasons, learning in the arts is an indispensable part of American education: 1) children celebrate and participate in their cultural inheritance, and 2) academic and social maturity follow directly from arts education experiences. The Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth category offers funding for projects that help children and youth acquire knowledge and understanding of and skills in the arts. Projects must provide participatory learning and engage students with skilled artists, teachers, and excellent art. Funded projects apply national or state arts education standards. All projects submitted to the Learning in the Arts category must include: Experience: Students and their teachers will have the chance to experience exemplary works of art — in live form where possible. Study: Through the guidance of teachers, teaching artists, and cultural organizations, students will study works of art in order to understand the cultural and social context from which they come, and to appreciate the technical and/or aesthetic qualities of each work. Where appropriate, study will include the acquisition of skills relevant to practicing the art form. Performance: Informed by their experience and study, students will create artwork. In the case of literature, the primary creative activities will be writing and/or recitation. Assessment: Students will be assessed according to national or state arts education standards. Where appropriate, projects will employ multiple forms of assessment including pre- and post-testing. NOTE: The required Learning in the Arts components may be provided in partnership with other organizations. The Arts Endowment strongly endorses the arts as a core academic subject area. Organizations must provide curriculum frameworks and carefully designed evaluations to assess every child’s progress in achieving proficiency in the arts. In this category, the Arts Endowment hopes to call attention to projects that recognize and cultivate best practices in the field of arts education for children and youth. Learning in the Arts projects may take place in school-based or community-based settings and should focus on children and youth in the general age range of 5 through 18 years. (NOTE: Adult and intergenerational learning is supported under Access to Artistic Excellence.)

Yigly Admin answers:

It will take quite a while to establish a separate nonprofit entity, and it would have to be separate and completelly independent from your current business. You would have to register the organization as a nonprofit whose entire existence is to advance the purpose of the mission. You would not ‘own’ the nonprofit, it would be run by a Board of directors. To be eligible for grant or foundation funding, you would also have to apply for tax-exempt status from the IRS. You should take a look at the steps necessary to establish a nonprofit at The Foundation Center – foundationcenter.org – under the FAQS section of the “getting started’ tab. As well, take a look at the IRS document, “Life Cycle of a Tax Exempt Organization, at the IRS website under the Charities tab.

However, the proposal states: NOTE: The required Learning in the Arts components may be provided in partnership with other organizations. The Arts Endowment strongly endorses the arts as a core academic subject area.

So find a school or academically based music related nonprofit in your area, and talk to them about partnering with them for this grant. It’s your best (and possibly only) shot.

Usnews.com has a premium service that will help you find an MBA program that will admit you. It costs $19.95 and is much cheaper than one wasted application fee to a school that you are unlikely to be admitted to.

Obviously both Stanford and Harvard are highly competitive – even though you apparently can buy your way into Harvard [they accepted that numbnutz GW Bush].

How did you do on the GRE or GMAT? That is critical for gaining admission.
Also, many top MBA schools require you to have at least two years work experience.

Here is the admissions web address for one of the top programs – Carnegie-Mellon in Pittsburgh:

Steven asks…

What is the best decision in life, is it following your dreams/ your heart/ what is right?

I don’t know what to do when it comes to this situation.

My dad wants me to do what is right by following him. His decision for me is to find more jobs and help him in our family company by drawing floorplans and perspectives.

But then I wanted to march on stage because it’s what I really really really want evrsince I became College.

The truth is I’m already a College Graduate but I didn’t go up on stage. I was a late graduate. My classmates graduated last March 21, 2010 and I was not included in the program because I’ve failed one comprehensive exam that is not a subject related and it is not course related.

The test is all about current events and I was not aware about the news at that time because I was too busy to finish my thesis, defense, and exhibit. I’m the top 1 in our thesis. I got the highest score. and I passed every subjects without repeating all of it. until I failed one stupid exam, ruined that my life. So the Dean told me that I’m done in my school. all I have to go back to is one exam for one day and that’s it!

After March, April, May June, July…..I’ve waited in my house 5 months for just one exam. I studied about the latest news.

Then I got back to school for one day only last August 2010. I never showed my face in school because i was too embarrassed to let them see me, some students there know that I’m already graduate

When I took the test I was shocked none of what I’ve studied for the past 5 months wasn’t there it the test paper. The test is all about myself.

After the exam I’ve waited again at home for 1 month, then I got the result and I’ve passed!

So now I’m officially and Octobers Graduate.

I claimed my Diploma in the business office last October 2010. But there is something missing.
I just want to give credit for myself, because it’s a once in a lifetime experience for every person to experience formality graduation which is going up on stage.

I really really want to make myself happy because I was so hurt from the moment I’ve hear that I’m not gonna graduate with my Batch-mates last February 19, 2010. It was so painful for me thinking about it day and night. And Everyday I cried because of this. I put so much effort and hard-work for me to finish this course and suddenly I feel that its not worth it if I did not go up on that stage.

So I decided to join the lower batch even if it’s too embarrassing to join the Ceremony. But even it’s like that, I don’t care what other people think. All I care is to go up on that stage and move on with my life.

But my dad told me that I need to follow his rules because It’s a waste of time going up on that stage and what will happen next?

I will waste money by paying the venue and other miscellaneous. But it’s my money and I have saved this for my graduation.

My dad told me that my priority is to find a job on my own but I’ve already done that because I applied all jobs I could find but none of them accept me. I was on the waiting list for one year. But I’ve tried my best.

Now I don’t know what to do, because my parents don’t agree on what I want, they just want whats best for me.

The school needs my diploma back by the end of this month February 28, 2011 if I want to join the Marching or not. It’s my choice.

What will I do?

Yigly Admin answers:

I think it’s obvious that you need to walk across that stage or this is going to be a stumbling block for you for the rest of your life. I honestly can’t understand WHY this is so important to you – I didn’t even go to my college graduation, but it is obviously important to you for some reason. Just do it. Your parents don’t understand why it means anything to you, but you will have an emotional hang up here if you don’t do it and it will be cheaper than therapy, in the end.

Your Questions About Stay At Home Mom Statistics

Steven asks…

How do I get my husband to understand we need a larger grocery budget?

I am a stay at home mom with 5 children, one in diapers and eating infant formula and baby food.

My husband thinks that $200-$300 per month is more than enough to supply the entire family with food, baby items, clothes, health & beauty items, household cleaners & other items.

I have showed him statistics on what average households spend, I have showed him grocery receipts even with my coupons, nothing works. I really need a specific budget and to know a certain time each month when I will get the money so that I can plan on what to spend depending on sale ads.

Right now I have to beg him for money when we run out of things, and then I’m just buying things when they are not even on sale because I have to have them right away.

He believes that the man is the head of the household, and a woman should not have any say in the finances. I understand that I don’t work, and I have even asked to get a night job, but he wants me here to take care of the kids.

Any help??

Yigly Admin answers:

Yes Wilma, take that club that your husband Fred is still carrying, and whack him one over the head with it. He’s got to be still living in the stone ages if he believes that the man is the head of the household and the woman should not have any say in the finances. And he’s got to be in fantasy land if he thinks that $200-300 per month will feed a family of 7.

I hate to offer this, considering things have not always been rosy with my wife and I, but I think you and hubby need counseling to get him to realize that what he is putting you through is not right. And if the counseling doesn’t work, well, I have no idea how much alimony and child support would be for him to pay, but I’m sure it would be lot more than $200-300 per month.

Oh, by the way, HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU DON’T WORK??? You stay at home and take care of 5 kids, if that’s not work I don’t know what really is.

I wish you the best of luck, and would like to know how you make out with things.

Thomas asks…

Statistics help please?

I am a stay at home mom with three kids. I have to answer this question based around that but I do not know how.

*In your own line of work, give one example of a ‘discrete’ and one example of a ‘continuous’ random variable and describe why each is ‘continuous’ or ‘discrete’.

Yigly Admin answers:

Discrete variables are variables with set intervals. For example, the number of children you have is a discrete variable. You can’t have 2.8 kids, you can only have whole numbers of children.

Your kids’ heights are an example of a continuous variable. If you had a precise enough measuring device, you could measure their height to an infinite amount of decimal places.

A good rule of thumb is that anything that you count is probably a discrete variable, while anything that you measure is a continuous variable.

Laura asks…

Aren’t you tired of statistics? esp. those about race?

Everyday in the news there’s a new study about this & that; a lot of these are unnecessary & done because the researcher needs work.

Take for ex., studies that most black kids are born to unwed mothers? the real truth is this: *most poor people in the US tend to have kids out of wedlock.
Another study: birth rates for minorities are increasing compared to that of whites? give me a break! whites are intermarrying a LOT more than before & I think that accounts for some of the change. *These statistics make me sick because all they do is encourage stereotypes about certain groups. In my church, every single black couple that I know is successful–they’re married, both parents with post-grad degrees etc. The poorest & least accomplished are white & many stay-at-home moms (not that anything is wrong with that). I think we should all be viewed as individuals & not a members of a group for every purpose.

Yigly Admin answers:

These are the white man’s statics they can paint it any way they please. I’m not brainwashed to believe the garbage a lot of it is made up.

Mary asks…

Anyone else sick to their stomachs of statistics? esp. those about race?

@ Ice ‘em: Many of the studies are unfounded, poorly done, & perpetuate stereotypes! there’s good & bad in every race! there’s ugly & cute, smart & dumb (I know a white guy & an asian girl who flunked the bar exam multiple times!) in every race. Of course if the studies say something sweet & dandy about you & your race, you’ll love them meanwhile you’re a loser who’s just coasting because of your skin color.

Yigly Admin answers:

If they are from a legit source, I like statistics. Just because someone doesn’t like the truth doesn’t make the facts a lie.

Edit: I SAID legit sources. If someone does not want to believe stats from said source so be it, but numbers don’t lie.

James asks…

I need information on statistics of kids and fathers in prison. I’m looking for the WHOLE picture.?

My kids are 7 and 9. There father is incarcerated in Oregon. We were married, and together until my children were 2 and 3 1/2. The relationship was abusive to me and the children, he drank and did drugs, blew our money, fun lame stuff. I got the courage to leave. My ex got his 4th DUI soon after that. He hit a family of three with his truck. He will be in prison for the next 10 years.

I have a fiancee who is a father to them now. He has been in their life for 4 years. He is a amazing friend and provider to them (my children). My children asked him if he would be willing to be their dad, because they don’t have a good father, and they would like one. We are a stable family unit now that their biological father is not in our lives.

What I want to know, is both sides of the coin facts. So far all I can find is info on why it is good to have the kids in his life. But the fact is that we are stable normal people. I don’t do drugs, I can’t drink more than a glass of wine, I am a boring stay at home mom. I am educated. My kids are at the top of their class. My partner is educated. We are social, and travel. My kids have many friends, and resolve conflicts in positive ways. My son surfs. My daughter dances. They are creative and easy going kids. We have a good life now. I have worked hard to protect them from the life their biological father choose.

So I cannot find info for our mold. We don’t fit the picture. I do not believe that with a positive father figure, and a stable mother, two sound loving parents, that sending them to prison would be good for them. They have little contact over the phone with their father. He calls inconsistently. Writes 2-3 times a year. Never calls on birthdays or close to it. He was abusive, and mostly absent in the little time he had with them. They are afraid of him. They do not look to him for anything. They speak to him only out of fear of displeasing him. All of these things are court ordered. He seeks contact out of his continued need to control and bully us, as he sees us as possessions.

He- the biological father, is seeking forced prison visitation from the kids.
Isn’t there something out there to help my kids situation? I could understand the need to fill the father shaped hole in their hearts if they had one, but it is filled. They are happy. I am afraid of the damage and numbing effect that prison will have on them. I am afraid of the relationships that they will develop as adults; that they will try to resolve their relationship with their blood father, by engaging in bad relationships if a continued close relationship is forced. I do not want them to abuse, or be abused.
Help!
I am looking for links, and information, to help me learn more about how to support my suation.

Yigly Admin answers:

This is Law and Ethics and there limited facts in this lengthy story.
So much to plead on sympathy it took a long time to find the Q and the lack of facts.
No mention of the custody agreement or the State.

Fact is that the father is allowed visitation. I fear your anxiety is impacting the kids. You are keeping his kids from him because you don’t want to deal and wish him out of YOUR life! They pick up that you are not happy with their father. Mama lion – in protecting her cubs – might end up being resented by kids as a wedge between you and their dad.

No way for children to be abused during a jail visit. You say forced and I read he is requesting his right to see his kids. The thing that is out there to help your kids is you, the boy friend, the loving home without anxiety over contact from their Dad, removing your personal anxiety and encouraging a relationship with their father. There are professionals to help.

Yigly Admin answers:

Hey. You should definitely see if your college offers really basic introductory courses for the subjects, particularly math, chem, and bio. Typical admission prerequisites for grad/professional schools generally list the specific courses required by the school and are usually begin with the normal set of “freshman” courses (i.e. You start with two semesters of general chem then move to organic and so on.) However, I know that my college offers courses that are even more introductory and basic than these general courses and are designed for those coming in with practically no experience to the material. You may want to take these rudimentary courses your first semester before jumping into the required ones. You will definitely need to build a strong foundation of knowledge, especially for the chemistry line because I’m in organic now and it is very difficult. Also, try to throw in courses that you think you could do really well in so that your gpa will be high. Medical school is highly competitive. If no such introductory courses are available to you, go ahead with the courses you need to take and just take advantage of all resources available to you (i.e. Professor office hours, on campus study centers, review books from the bookstore, online materials and practice problems. Good luck.

Jenny asks…

My mom is ruining my chances at happiness with a great man?

I know this is long, but I am in desperate need of opinions/advice.

My boyfriend is 24, I am 22. We have been dating for 2+ years. He is everything I want in a man, and more. He’s handsome, smart, responsible, loving, and my family adores him (even my crazy mom who I will explain about in a few).

He has a well-paying job, and is a college graduate. I am almost done with my bachelor’s degree, and I make good money too ( I work for my mom‘s business. Which is where my problems come in).

Seems like we have all of the basics – right?

We have an amazing relationship…. except for when my mother intervenes.

She has SERIOUS attachment issues with me – she calls me 99 times when we go out. She’ll call me to ask me any little thing, or to remind me not to have sex (she believes in saving it for marriage). Virginity is a HUGE deal to her. Which I know is the MAIN reason she is always on top of me. If I don’t answer my phone – she will call and call and send me horrible text messages saying things like “Dont forget that he’s a dog, and all he wants is one thing..” or “what? are you too busy to answer me? your hands must be tied.” She’ll leave me voicemails like that too. Also, if I don’t answer, or go against her will, she’ll start faking heart attacks, call the ambulance – the whole 9 yards.

It drives me crazy that she thinks I am having sex. She looks at me with dirty eyes every time I get home from a date with my boyfriend.

If my boyfriend buys me nice/expensive things (Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary, Valentines), she starts telling me to “be careful”. Insinuating that he’s trying to “buy me”.

My mom has suffered a lot in her life – loveless/affection-less marriage to my dad, 4 late-term miscarriages and trouble trying to conceive my brother and I, health issues. etc etc. I feel bad for her. I hate upsetting her. She does suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure) and the dr told us that if it goes high enough, she could have a stroke and die or become a vegetable.

My boyfriend hates these attachment issues with my mom. He hates that we can’t have a date without her calling. He hates that we can’t stay out past 10pm. (he doesn’t know taht she’s the reason we can’t stay out late.).

HERES THE THING:

With the exception of my mom issues – I feel like I am ready to start my life with him. Not right this second, but within the next year or two. I am seeking employment away from mom, and I feel that as soon as I am done with school and have a new job, I will be more than ready. He has stood by me through all of this, and I am certain he is the man I want for the rest of my days.

However, I feel like this mom issue is whats stopping us.

So my questions:

What to do about my mom? (moving out is not an option right now. neither is moving in with the bf).
How do I put my foot down without having her blame HIM for my actions/new behavior?
How do I discuss marriage or the possibility of a future with him? (I read in a book called “why men marry some women and others not” that men don’t typically bring up the subject, and its based on ACTUAL statistics, so please dont say to wait for HIM to bring it up.)

Thank you all for reading, I know its was tortureously long! I appreciate your help.

Yigly Admin answers:

Have you ever thought about a pyschiatrist for your mom? I know it sounds “eekkk” but your mom’s behavior, which you already realize, found of course its origin in a bad past. She’s possessing you now because of it, she’s extremely afraid to lose you. A good dr can help her – in time – to deal with that and it’ll definitely be a relief to her in the end (though it sucks at the beginning to tell about bad experiences). I’d really try to discuss it with her, just like: look I’m very worried about you… (she will be mad at first, but you should keep pushing a little until she says yes).

You really can’t deal with her alone, I’m sorry but solving your moms traumas which she’s been suffering since long isn’t an option. Just be a support to her.

It’s useless to tell her he didn’t do anything wrong, she’ll never buy that, cause she’s blind for other ppls opinions, especially yours, cause you’re her weak spot you know? She’s overprotecting, she’ll never believe something you claim, cause she still feels like “I’m the mom, I know everything better than my little girl”

About marriage, I’d joke about it first, ya know “hey what about marrying? No no I won’t force you! Though.. Do you ever think about it? Seriously…?” and then you guys can start talking about in a relaxed way :) You don’t have to discuss that with your mother, that’s useless… For now. Hang on, girl.

Your Questions About Team Building Exercises For Small Groups

Sharon asks…

i need a team building exercise for a group of 20-30 teenagers?

it will be done before swimming so nothing too sweaty… also can be done in a conference room or small area outside… please help…

Yigly Admin answers:

Here are some ideas for you.

Have them all sit in a large circle facing away from each other. One at a time, they must count up from 1 – 50. The catch is that only one person can speak at a time and the person to the immidiate left or the immediate right of the person who gave the last number cannot say the next number.

This teaches them how to work with each other to accomplish their goal.

Another game is called TENNIS BALLS

Divide the participants up into small groups of about eight to ten people and have them arrange themselves in a circle. Give a tennis ball to one person and explain the rules of the game:

Each group is in competition with the other groups in the room. The group who can complete the most “circuits” in a given time will be the winner. A completed circuit occurs when every person in the group has touched the tennis ball.
Only one person in the group can touch the tennis ball at one time (therefore the ball must be tossed rather than passed.)
If the ball ever touches the floor, then production must stop for one-minute.

Have the teams complete a few circuits to get comfortable and begin creating patterns that make them more efficient. The facilitator may want to stop the groups and get feedback as to how they are becoming more efficient and help them understand that this is a natural progression in business as well. Have the groups continue to complete circuits, but as time progresses, the facilitator will add additional rules to make the process more difficult.

A Co-Worker calls in Sick–Remove one of the group participants and tell the group that the participant called in sick. After they complete a few circuits, remind them that just because someone calls in sick, doesn’t mean that that person’s work doesn’t need to be completed. (They will probably have just continued to complete the circuit just as they had before the person left.) Remind them that each of their last few circuits have had one fewer touches than before, so they do not count. Someone will have to pick up the slack for the absent person. After a new pattern is established, have the person come back.

Double Production–Throw a second ball into the mix and tell the group that our client wants us to double production. Only one ball can be held by any one person at a time. You can add a third or even fourth ball later.

Diversity–New federal legislation states that we need to include more minorities and women in our production line, so every other person who touches the ball must be either a woman or a minority.

Use your imagination to come up with other rules and be sure to have a prize for the winning team. At the end of the game, ask the group how did the game relate to things they face in the business (or sports) world.

Charles asks…

I’m part of a group hiring new people. What team builders are good for us to see their character?

Team Building, Hiring, Tough Decisions. We are hiring new people and we want to put them into small groups of 3 and 4 and have them do a team building exercise or activity. We want to see how they work together, who is a leader, who helps, who stays back and is more reserved. Any tips?

Yigly Admin answers:

Give them a topic and have them produce something to demonstrate that topic using just the materials given within a given time frame. For example, I was once part of a group that had to use a certain number of drinking straws, paper clips, toothpicks and a few other things to build a bridge that would support the most weight – competing with other groups. Observe what happens, and also get them to explain how it got done afterwards.

Thomas asks…

Please help me.?

I posted this once but it was deleted?!?!!? So here it is again: How can I make this part of my story better?

“Ladies, this group therapy session is going to be different from our previous ones. Today we will be pairing up into teams of two. The person I pair you up with is going to be the person you turn to when you can’t handle things, or need to talk about something and I’m not here.”

The girls in the small office space looked around anxiously. There were seven girls in the room. They were the Tuesday group session. Up on the wall was the list of everyone’s names and diagnosis. As Macy looked up on the wall, she saw how empty it looked without Roselyn’s name at the bottom. She had been the nicest girl in the room, but had been released from this hell right after Macy started coming. Now, she was forced to come here and have literally no one who liked her other than Eva, the therapist. She read over the list, as she did every week:

Caitlyn – Anorexia
Juliana – Recovering drug addict
Kira – Self-esteem issues
Chloe – Bipolar
Lexie – Depression
Kayce – Bulimia
Macy – Dealing with Cancer
Emie –

“Wait, where did the name Emie come from,” thought Macy. She looked around and saw no one new. She looked again at the list to see if maybe she had just been seeing things, but there it was, Emie. Of course her diagnosis was blank, you only got to feel that in if you wanted to share what was going on with you with the other members of the group. Otherwises you were just a mystery to everyone, and only Eva knew what was wrong.

“I will be choosing the pairs because I think its just easier that way. This is a wonderful exercise that I believe will be beneficial to you all. Also, before I tell everyone the pairings I need to introduce a new member, who is running a bit late. Once she gets here though, we’ll start.”

As Eva finished the sentence, Emie came running through the white door.

“Oh, I’m so sorry I wasn’t here on time. Traffic was built up for miles and miles.”
“Well, that’s ok. Everyone this is,” Eva looked down at the file laying in her lap, “This is Emie Connors. Ladies, give her a welcoming hello.”
The group barely said hello, and Emie took the only empty seat in the row. The rest of the girls in the room weren’t even looking her way so she turned towards the therapist, and suddenly she wished she had remembered to ask her name.

“Ok, Emie I was just explaining to the girls that I will be putting everyone into pairs. These pairs are chosen by me, and the person I put you with is supposed to help you when I can’t. This exercise is something I’m testing out, and thought it would work great for everyone.”

Emie muttered a shy, “Ok, thanks,” and set her sight back upon the list on the wall and wondered why her diagnosis was blank but decided not to ask. She had bigger things to worry about, like being paired up with a total stranger.
Thanks Bekki and stalker27. I have the read the book perfect, and loved it. I am going to go find it and read it again. lol.

Well, this looks GREAT to me!
The only advice I have for you is to improve your vocab just a tad (yous is good already, just to open your range of readers), and to read a little bit more about teen issues.
Most “groups” like these are sepcified on one topic, like all the patients are anorexic, or depressed, or dealing with a terminal illness. But hey, if you wan to have a varied group, that is toally okay! It’d be great to see an original book for once. :)
I’m also going to reccomend a book to you just because A) I think you’ll like it and B) it will help you a LOT with your story :)
“Perfect” by Natasha Friend is an easy read, and is about a girl who goes into a group therapy for bulimia. You’ll like it, I promise :)
Good luck :D

Mary asks…

Is there a real good way I can make residual income online?

Is there a real good way I can make residual income online? Serious answers please… ads that have nothing to do with my question will be reported. Thank you

Yigly Admin answers:

There are ample opportunities to make money through online association but it will require developing skills specific to a particular discipline.

In my case, I’d suffered the loss of much of my vision (now restored surgically) and had to shut down my repair business. I got involved in the stock market, set about the job of learning all I could. Years later, I’m loving every day as I greet investment opportunities I’ve selected.

We tend to think in terms of finding wealth hiding under a rock or within a blog. It doesn’t work that way, unfortunately. Rather, we have to admit that some of us hide under the rock and only then can we attempt to change things.

There is income to be made online, definitely. It is for each of us to figure out how we can develop opportunities within ourselves. The Internet brings information to our doorsteps and enables us to communicate with our fingertips. Making money will come as a result of creating an environment that invites prosperity. I’m convinced anybody can make a lot of money become a reality. I’ve seen it in others, I’ve lived it myself.

What makes you different? Interesting? Why do people appreciate you? What can you offer of value to others?

Answer these questions and the rest is easy for you need only figure out how to package yourself and your worth…it may be an advisory service guiding others, perhaps another sort of service offering remedies and solutions.

Len

PS: Thank you for discouraging spammers—I can’t stand their selfishness, myself.

Donald asks…

What exactly is residual income?

I think I have an idea of what it is. What jobs or businesses most likely produce residual income? Off the bat, I think Real Estate, but I know there’s a lot more.

Yigly Admin answers:

The “residual” used to mean the income that an actor, musician or other performer received after the TV show had gone into re-runs or syndication… These days the term is used a lot by CROOKS who want to scam people. The whole MLM or whatever game is NOT productive and should be avoided.

Donna asks…

What is the best way to build residual income?

If I were to build my passive income to be greater than my expenses, how would I go about doing that?

Yigly Admin answers:

You could write a good book, and if it’s popular, you can make money from sales for years. Or get a principal role in a movie or TV show, and get money from DVD sales or syndication.

Or you buy dividend-paying stocks and cash those dividend checks that come in quarterly.

Sandy asks…

How many different ways are there to earn a residual income?

I would like to know what others are doing to earn this kind of income. Because it is some thing that I am looking into.

Sell fast moving products online.
Low cost and you can start almost immediately.

To me to make $$ online, you will need a real products that you can resell them online with Ebay/Amazon.
Of course there are many other ways out there, but this is what i know and have been doing it for years.

Where are you based?
I buy at low price and resell them on Ebay/Amazon.
If you are serious and based in USA, then you may pm me.
I can even dropship for you, so basically you can start with almost no $$ down.
